Before there was Elvis...

There was Dick Contino. Who is Dick Contino? well I'll tell ya. This cat has been on the Ed Sullivan show 48 times and has been entertaining accordion lovers world wide for over 65 years. Tonight happened to be the 20th anniversary of the Chicago Accordion Club Dad played the pre-show walk in music so Kim and I went to enjoy an evening of music and sights. Dick's outfit was amazing 'nuf said. Enjoy the pics.

The music was great as was the overall excited vibe. One last picture...
EAT YOUR HEART OUT DONNA, I GOT ME A CONTINO!!!

A Good Mommy II...

As her kids get older she still is very protective.
It was picture time for the two boys and Nugget wasn't thrilled that Kim was holding her babies. She took a running leap up to Kim's arms to sit on the chicks even while it was picture time. The littlest one is now crowing. Every muscle in his little body tenses up and the softest little "caaaw" pops out. Almost makes me want to keep one, ALMOST! They go home in a few days, Nugget has done her job. What a good mom.

StuCo Golf Classic...

What is that you ask?
StuCo is Student Community over at CCC
An amazing group of leaders and kids. This year they tried a golf outing as a fund raiser. Seven Bridges was the home to the first annual StuCo Classic. My co-band coach Jeff bought a foursome and invited myself and a couple of the staff guys to fill those spots.
The dream team...

TJ, Perry, Jeff, Me

Not having swung a club in 2 years had me in a bit of a panic so I borrowed my buddy Steve's good clubs and headed out to the course. It was great to see all these guys that I only see in a church setting walking around in golf shoes and such. 18 teams in a shotgun start playing a scramble. This should be fun. Playing best ball is the only way to golf. I'm a 50% golfer. 50% good... 50% in the woods and water...
So knowing the team wouldn't be held up by me looking for my golf balls took the pressure off. I made the mistake of using my best joke on the 4th hole. I had 14 more holes to try and top myself, I never did... (note to self, hang on to the best one until the 16th hole)
We all had some great shots and some that tanked. Every one of us had "best ball" shots so we all walked away feeling like we contributed. A true team effort that landed us 4 under par, without cheating. The winning team was 10 under (they had to cheat, I'm convinced)
One thing... we all had great form.

So thank you Jeff and StuCo for a great day in the sun...

Kellie Beth...

Our niece decided to accept our invitation and spend the Summer here in the greater Chicago land area. She has been helping Laura out with the kids. Kim has been trying to cram as much "Chicago" in her as we can muster up. We've had a pretty good time so far.
Here's a photo catch up...

Good thing Grandma doesn't read this blog or we'd be in trouble for letting her on a cycle...but come on she's on with a future Priest, how much more protection does she need?...(only rode in our neighborhood....relax)

So far so good. She's a dream of a house guest and will be going with Kim at the end of the month to Ireland and Croatia. We're not even going to talk about the 2 Priests a belly dancer and a hookah bar. More pics later...
